Cactus Recipes – Homemade Prickly Pear Smoothie from the Sonoran Desert

Ready to impress your guest with a quick Low Cal,  Sugar free,  5 minute smoothie that will please just about anyone? These two cactus recipes were submitted and created by 3 Star Director Glenda Hamilton in her own home in Gilbert, Arizona. It involves the use of one special Cactus grown in her home state that one rarely thinks twice about, the Prickly Pear Cactus.

Many don’t know, but the Prickly Pear Cactus is a wellspring of life that many native people have been living by for thousands of years. These health benefits are found inthe fruit of the cactus that bloom vibrantly two to three times a year. Which scientist and researchers are calling a, “Betalain.” These Betalains are rare antioxidants that assist the body reduce a buildup of inflammation that may be causing pain and discomfort within one’s body. They do so by helping reduce activity in enzymes that are known to cause inflammation.

By the help of a wellness company located in Scottsdale, Arizona called, TriVita. They were able to harness these betalains in a 32 ounce delicious wellness drink, which they named, “Nopalea” deemed from that Nopale (Prickly Pear)Cactus in which it came from. Glenda has been using this product since the launch date in March of 2009, and now she is sharing these awesome homemade cactus recipes for all of us too enjoy.

Nopalea Cactus Juice Recipe – LowCalorie and Sugar Free

Serving Size 3-4 people

Approximately 5-10 minutes

6 Ounces Nopalea Cactus Juice fromTriVita(click here to purchase)

2 Cups of Berries (Personal Choice)

1 Cup Water

Instructions: Blend water and berries until preferred consistency, stop and add Nopalea, resume blending until completely all mixed together.

Garnish to your personal tasting.

No Sugar Nopalea Cactus Juice Recipe

Serving Size 3-4 people

Approximately 5-10 minutes

(2) 2/3 Cups of Cherries

(2) 1/3 of Thai Coconut Milk

(6) Ounces Nopalea Cactus Juice fromTriVita

(2) 1/3 Banana

Instructions: Blend your Cherries and Banana with your Thai Coconut milk to the preferred thickness. Stopyour blender/mixer and finish off by adding you Nopalea Cactus Juice.  Blend for about another 3-5 seconds and enjoy! Don’t forget to garish the smoothie as well if you are serving guest or even just to get that feeling of pure bliss.

These two recipes are a simple, quickand easy treat for all to enjoy. Who would have knew that it couldbe also promoting wellness within our bodies at the same time?
